Reuben Aldeen and a handful of employees started the Aldeen Manufacturing Company in Rockford, IL.
They rented the 12th floor of a tall building - with the only access from the roof!
1930
The Aldeen Manufacturing Company changes its name to the American Cabinet Hardware Company of Rockford.
1935
Introduced the concept of matching cabinet decorative hardware for cabinet knobs, pulls and hinges.
1940
"Amerock", a trade name for merchandising product, is born. The name is a combination of American Cabinet Hardware Company and Rockford.
1942
Amerock helps in the war effort by shifting production to building micro-switches and parts for airplanes, submarines, tanks, ships and bombs.
